We are so busy enjoying our Spanish world....
Tonight we meet up with the Rick Steves' Tour - so excited!
We walk around these vibrant streets, meet so many people from other parts of the world. We've had servers from Argentina, France, Italy...and elsewhere. Met a lovely couple from the Netherlands last evening but the wife is from Thailand.
Barcelona has a Catalonia identity and continues to fight for Independence from Spain. They have their own language, Catalan, and a distinct culture, history and politics. Long live Catalonia , actually Catalunya. They are not Spanish!
PICS FROM THE STREET
Beautiful district, El Born. What we thought were tapas our first nite in BCN have now paled that we have tasted the real mouth-watering realities. |
Rhiannon is so thoroughly enjoying herself...... |
HIGHLIGHT OF DAY
Picasso Museum, oh bliss. No big surprise here...Rhiannon loved his early more representational works and I swooned at his later paintings. I felt that he worked in such utter creative freedom. Awe inspiring. my breath was taken away by an entire room of Infanta Margarita Maria's (Las Meninas)....I gotta try that when I get back to the studio. All you who know me know that prolific describes my process, well Picasso had no problem diving in and making 50, 100 or more of something that inspired him at the moment. He's my man!
Of course no picture taking inside, but here's a couple of infantas off the internet.
Original by Velasquez, of course.
MY DOODLINGS OF THE DAY
(Not an on-site urban sketcher....nope, not me. Utterly stuck on faces.) So my joy is coming back to my room and doodling away while Rhiannon is out and socializing.
COMING UP THIS EVENING - OUR RICK STEVES' TOUR BEGINS!
We moved to our luxe hotel and met up with our fellow tourists last nite. Rhiannon and I are off to Sagrada Familia today and hopefully Parc Guell, too. Off to Madrid tomorrow on Spain AVE fast Train.
