Joanie and Rhiannon go to SPAIN 2015 Olé!

May 29 - Sevilla - Such a Delight

Ah, Sevilla. Safe and sound, fun and clean, fab cafes, amazing shopping (we held out until Sevilla and totally scored). Our hotel location was, as per usual, in the middle of action and walking distance to everything. We loved it here.

The tail end of our tour was spent crossing paths with some of the loveliest people one could ever hope to meet. From the first night our Rick Steve's Spain My Way tour began in Barcelona I never would have guessed looking around the circle of 20+people from all parts of the U.S. and Canada that I would form heart connections with so many of them. John was our resident wine and IPA beer expert full of Greek Orthodox jokes, Nancy and Kim were our travelling buddies with whom we shared meals and drinks and fine times. There was Michelle and Robert, Carrie and Jim, and our dear tour guide Amanda, still in her 20s but sharp, informative, and an utter delight. I know I am gushing, but its just that we had such a great time, way beyond what we had expected from this tour. Now that's a great experience!

Rhiannon and I started out our trip independently and are ending it on our own with our Airbnb connections, but we already miss our compadres.

So much art in window displays

There's a funny story that goes with this pic... You'll have to ask ;)

The Flamenco hall was adjoined to our hotel.

So we are truly in southern Spain and enraptured by authentic Flamenco!

Alas, we didn't have time to visit both the Cathedral and the Alcazar, and since Rhiannon is a Game of Thrones mega-fan, the Alcazar won out. But here are some street shots of the cathedral. Majestic!

3rd largest cathedral in Europe is in Sevilla

Starbucks, recognize it? We needed wifi  (I did) desperately. And a large coffee!

This is where we were hoping to buy cookies and a rosary from the cloistered nuns. You never see them, but they send your requests out on a lazy susan. So sorry to miss them.
